NASSAU, Bahamas - Heartened by the profit she made from sharing the last pictures taken of her dead son, Anna Nicole Smith is considering the sale of his clothes, personal effects, and cremated remains.

An attorney-financial advisor for Ms. Smith confirmed yesterday that the reality television star had dispatched a team of lawyers, private detectives, and professional movers to the apartment of Daniel Wayne Smith© to collect and catalog his possessions.

"Integrity is paramount in this enterprise," said Howard K. Stern, head of Ms. Smith's legal team. "We are sensitive to the fact that people want to be assured the items they purchase are genuine. We pledge to provide certificates of authenticity for every last scrap of Daniel Wayne Smith© memorabilia—from the 4" by 4" coaster-size pieces of his bath mat to the wadded tissues in the trash can next to his Barcalounger and magazine rack."

Although Ms. Smith remains sequestered on an estate in the Bahamas, her "legendary concern for her fans" will not let her forget them in her time of need, said Mr. Stern. "We do ask the public to respect Anna's privacy at this difficult moment while she comes to terms with the emotions of determining a fair pricing structure for her son's personal effects and remains."

Mr. Stern said no decision had been reached as yet on the packaging of Daniel Wayne Smith©'s remains. He assured reporters that "it will be done tastefully, perhaps something in a heart-shaped mauve box with a photo of Daniel and Anna Nicole on the lid."

Proceeds from the sale of Daniel Wayne Smith© are expected to dwarf the £344,000 his mother earned from selling his last pictures, taken a mere nine hours before he was found dead in her hospital room September 10. In Touch magazine paid a reported £212,000 for the print exclusive to the photos, while the Paramount-produced television shows Entertainment Tonight and The Insider allegedly paid £132,000 for the television rights.

Young Daniel's blazer, trousers, shirt, and tie can be purchased as separates or at an ensemble price.
"The sale of the kid's remains should top that easily," said Cyril H. Wecht, the coroner to the stars, who was hired by Ms. Smith to perform a private autopsy on her son. "I figure at 155 pounds times 16 ounces in a pound times, say, $249.99 for a 1-ounce package of ashes—marked down from $299.99, of course—and you're talking $619,975.20. That isn't chump change."

Mr. Stern reacted harshly to Dr. Wecht's speculations.

"We feel it is inappropriate to put a price tag on Daniel Wayne Smith© at this point," said Mr. Stern. "Besides, we haven't decided yet wheter to share him with his mother's fans at a fixed price or through an auction."

In related news, a discrete notice posted on Anna Nicole Smith's website yesterday informed grieving fans to visit www.annanicole.com/lucre often for news about the sale of Daniel Wayne Smith©.
